No File Storage, Ever

The core principle of CieloWeb Share is that your files are never uploaded to or stored on our servers. The service facilitates a direct, secure, peer-to-peer connection between your devices using WebRTC. Your data remains yours, traveling directly from sender to receiver.

Data Processing for P2P Connections

To establish a WebRTC connection, a minimal amount of temporary data must be exchanged—this is called "signaling." We only collect what is absolutely necessary for this process:

  • Session Information: To initiate a peer-to-peer link, we temporarily store session descriptions (SDP) and network candidates (ICE) in our Firestore database. This data is essential for the two browsers to find and connect to each other.
  • Anonymous or User ID: We use Firebase Authentication to provide a temporary anonymous ID or your authenticated user ID. This is used solely to secure the signaling process and ensure that only the intended recipient can connect to your session. It is not tied to your personal identity if you are an anonymous user.
  • Pro Status: If you sign in, we check for a "Pro" status custom claim to determine whether to disable ads. We do not store or track this status beyond this real-time check.

Data Deletion and Retention

All signaling data stored in our Firestore database is ephemeral. Session documents and their associated pairing codes are automatically deleted after a connection is established, fails, or expires (typically within a few minutes). We do not retain any logs or records of your sessions or the files you transfer.

Third-Party Services

We use Google Firebase for the backend infrastructure that powers the signaling (Firestore) and authentication (Firebase Auth). We also use Google AdSense to display ads for non-Pro users. Your interaction with these services is subject to their respective privacy policies.
